The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has a very pure bouquet, with a beacon of red berry fruit, neatly integrated with the oak. There is a nobility here, though perhaps it is a little more understated than I would expect considering the vineyard. The palate is beautifully balanced with a fine bead of acidity but perhaps beginning to close up. Yet there is great structure here, and real drive and grip toward the finish. Bon vin - but give it 10 years at least. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Chambolle-Musigny

Chambolle-Musigny, a prestigious appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is renowned for its elegant, aromatic Pinot Noir wines. Known for their finesse and complex aromas of red berries, violets, and earth, these wines are often described as the most "feminine" of Burgundy. The appellation's two Grand Cru vineyards, Bonnes Mares and Musigny, produce highly sought-after wines with depth and ageing potential. Notable producers include Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Domaine Georges Roumier, and Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, all celebrated for their refined winemaking.
